This petition is a critical piece of the puzzle that could lead to improved regulation of Omega Protein, which for, far too long, has gone about their business of menhaden reduction fishing without significant and consequential oversight. The purse seince nets used in their operation have potentially devastating effects on, not only the menhaden fishery, but the bycatch fisheries---all of which are critical to a healthier Chesapeake Bay watershed. I strongly encourage the VRMC and Commonwealth to take the critical steps outlined in this petition and regulate the use of purse seine nets in the waters defined within. Thank you.
