Support of Developmental Disabilities

I feel it is inexcusable that the state still has15,000+ individuals on a waiting list for services.  This severe underfunding of services for people with developmental disabilities translates into  great burden with a negative impact on families and the individual with the disability.  It appears that DMAS is unwilling to direct funding to waivers for individuals, who live a much fuller life if provide the proper care and therapy that waivers fund.  I don't understand how the state is so interested in cutting taxes, when literally thousands of Virginians are deprived of the opportunity to participate in their community and enjoy opportunities that others just take for granted.  When will DMAS stand up and tell elected officials that Virginians are suffering because they lack the backbones to provide funding for their disabled citizens.  When will DMAS do what it should be doing to support citizens of the Commonwealth who have developmental disabilities?  Time has run out!
