Protect Consumer-Directed Home Care for Spouses and Parents

I am glad to see DMAS propose that spouses and parents of children under 18 should be allowed to continue to provide vital consumer-directed home care services so that older adults and people with disabilities can live with dignity.

However, the state should repeal all the uneccesary limitations on them. Parents and spouses should be allowed to work the same number of hours as other care workers. They should get respite hours. They should not have to use the cumbersome EVV system. And they should not be limited in their use of EORs.

Please also raise the pay and provide real benefits for consumer-directed care workers so that we can recruit and retain a robust workforce.
