Repeal unnecesarry restrictions on spouses and parents of minor children

Consumer-directed home care is good for older adults, people with disabilities, and tax-payers by helping everyone live at home and in the community while saving the state money.

Parents of minor children and spouses should be able to work as consumer-directed care workers without unnecessary restrictions.

That means that parents of minor children and spouses should NOT be limited to 40 hours. They should have respite care. They should NOT have to use EVV. They should not be limited in who the EOR is.

In addition, we should recognize that the reimbursement rate is too low. DMAS, the General Assembly, and the Governor should take immediate action to raise the reimbursement rate so that consumer-directed care workers earn a living wage with full benefits.
