The CBIS certification is a one-year certification that must be renewed annually (see BIAA website for details). The manual states it is a 3-year certification.
Additionally, currently the manual states that a case manager must be a CBIS or QBIS. There is a huge difference between the two - QBIS is basic, and CBIS is a lengthy and difficult process, and cannot even be applied for until a case manager has 500 contact hours with clients with BI. Perhaps a middle ground would be that an individual case manager must have a minimum QBIS, but that per organization, any QBIS case manager must be supervised by a CBIS.
