Maybe you don't want to think of carbon dioxide as a pollutant, because plants need carbon dioxide. This doesn't change the fact that carbon dioxide is still a greenhouse gas and the atmospheric concentration is increasing and the world isn't growing enough plants to keep up. Carbon dioxide isn't the only greenhouse gas and if nothing is done, sooner than you would expect, there won't be any more arctic ice, permafrost or glaciers to melt to cool the excess heat that the greenhouse gasses are trapping in the atmosphere.
