Keep RGGI - the benefits outweigh its costs.

I belong to United Women in Faith Social Action and the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy.
I strongly believe we need to protect the environment and our fellow humans, on reasons of common sense
and faith.  

We have dominion over our earth - we need to be caretakers and not garbage collectors!
The heath care costs of a dirty environment is much more expensive than keeping a clean environment.
I want my money to go into cleaning the environment, not later when repairing the environment will be more expensive as will the heath care costs.    

Keep RGGI for the benefits it brings compared to its small cost to utility rate payers, which is estimated by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality to be around $2.40 per month for a typical household. In May 2022 (from the RGGI report that summarized investments made under the program in 2020) for every $1 raised through RGGI and invested in energy efficiency or other programs in 2020, RGGI produced $10 in energy bill savings.

It would be unlawful to withdraw Virginia from RGGI, as explained more fully by the Attorney General’s January 11, 2022 opinion and by comments previously submitted by the Southern Environmental Law Center and others.
