There is no care other than family

The waiver must continue as it is on allowing family to be paid caregivers for disabled family members. If it were not for the waiver I do not know what our family would do and my son wjo has severe mental illness as well as several medical conditions that prevent him from being alone at any time. There is a shortage (nearly non existent) in our area and the alternative to family waiver care would be institutional care which would be extremely detrimental to my son's health. The payment allows one parent to be a full time caregiver while keeping my son home where is able to get one on one care and remain in the least restrictive environment and where he wishes to to be. If it were noe. I would think my son is much like most individuals on waiver and it would be a return to institution care and abuse if the waiver safety net was not available.
