Much like the poor planning of our roads to support unrestrained housing booms in Northern Virginia, we are supporting unrestrained data center development by entertaining measures to make it easier for them to cope with the poor planning and development of our energy grid at the cost of rate payers and additional load on an already strained system.  Alternative measures should be implemented to increase the grid capacity while not encouraging hundreds, if not thousands, of source point air polluters in the form of diesel generators across Northern Virginia.  We need measures to force data center operators to put more skin in the game for the public’s sake and not just for their own continuity of operations.
