I am the parent of three and grandparent of four, a lifelong Virginia resident and an Evangelical Christian. Contrary to what you might expect, I support and endorse the right of gay and lesbian citizens to adopt. The need for loving caring parents and stable families is critical for children. The assumption that heterosexual individuals and couples are the only safe and healthy parent option is false, ignorant and malicious. Character and love are the deciding factor for adoptive patents. Orientation is not a measure for providing a loving home. I know many LGBT people and the charges and vilification of their lives must end. They have just as much of a right to create a family and should be measured for appropriate placement of children as any heterosexual.
