Virtual Visits

The purpose of this email is to express in the strongest terms possible my desire to continue virtual meetings for service facilitation and service coordination services.

The convenience of virtual visits is very important to me and my son (Mark has Down syndrome & is 32 years old). We live in a rural area and in the past, scheduling these visits were always a challenge due to the need of the service facilitator’s and/or service coodinator’s travel schedule. In addition to the benefit of increasing the options for scheduling the meeting, virtual visits improve safety during periods of high level of disease/illness transmission.

In closing, I want to emphasize my support of virtual visits. COVID caused the need for virtual visits- which has benefitted everyone- not just the disability community. I believe getting ‘the genie back in the bottle’ is not the path forward to improved access to services, but rather expansion of this type of support.
