Social Services: Non-Discrimination Adoption Policy

To Whom it May Concern:

As a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia and a registered voter, I have grave concern in hearing that the Board of Social Services would reintroduce discriminatory policies which would not allow solid, willing, and caring LGBT families and persons the opportunity to provide a warm, loving, and caring home for youths whom are currently in the foster care system.

Unfortuntely, our current Attorney General has been misguided when it comes to LGBT issues in our state and therefore has done a dis-service to the youth of our commonwealth.  I support the Board of Social Services in removing the anti-LGBT policies recommended by the Attorney General.  The wellfare of children should not be intangled in the often hypocrytical policies/beliefs of persons who aren't willing to protect ALL persons of the state in which they have promised to strengthen and protect.

Please do not allow discriminatory policies to enfluence your duties in providing children with loving homes regardless of the make of that home.  The LGBT families in Virginia are as adequately prepared to foster and care for children of our state when others have determined they cannot.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

William Lechert
