The proposed regulations concerning pet stores should include language that holds the stores to the same standards as shelters.

We recently adopted a puppy from the Humane Society of Fairfax County on Rt 29. In talking to an employee he said that they were often visited by county officials and were told on occasion to change some things.

If a non profit organization that is funded entirely for the welfare of these abandoned or mistreated animals is subject to inspections and changes the least these proposed regulations can do is hold the for profit industry to the same standards.
