There are too many children who are in need of a loving home for there to be decrimination on what kind of home is good enough.  As long as there are capable adults (or even just one adult) who want to take care of a child (or children), they should be able to do so.  With so many people against abortion and the push for adoption as an alternative, putting limitations on who can adopt is not a good choice.
