I don’t like to be at meetings by myself without my parents. I wouldn’t have gotten as far as I gotten—without their support. I have enjoyed my years in school thanks to great teachers and school personnel—and thanks to my mom and dad who made sure I always was able to have a voice in the learning community.
4th grade was my favorite year. I went to Mckinley Elementary School. It was my favorite year because I had new friends. My favorite subject was history. I really liked going to Jamestown with my classmates for a field trip.
I graduated from Yorktown High School in 2007, after going to the Prom and participating in lots of extra curricular activities. I am in the EBCE program at the Arlington Career Center. I am getting a chance to learn new skills and intern in a variety of settings like a kindergarten program and at The Arc of Northern Virginia.
At this point in my career, I would like to be a kindergarten teaching assistant. I am good with kids. I work well with teachers. I listen to Parents.
I am here to say please support Special Education the way I know it-- an education system that includes parents as partners in the learning process.
