Action | Amend Requirements for Carrying Handguns in State Forests |

Dear Sir or Madam,
Virginia has in the past decade or so, made significant strides in the harmonization of firearms regulation throughout the Commonwealth. Though there were predictions of catastrophe prior to the enactment of a great many of these, such adversities have not come to pass.
Please enact the proposed amendment to 4VAC10-30-170, which would bring the regulation of firearms in the Commonwealth's forests into alignment with the regulatory regimes in the Commonwealth's parks, National Parks, and National Forests.
In some of these areas, the boundaries between one regulatory regime and another can be difficult to discern. What seems straightforward on a map may not be so in a thicket of trees. Law abiding citizens attempting to travel in good faith should not have to second-guess their way through a patchwork of inconsistent regulations in order to obey the law.
Thank you,
Robert J. Stratton III
