Richmond has a poor bike infrastructure to start. Any road closures in the City that prohibit bike and pedestrian passage significantly disrupts accessibility, forces individuals to take less safe and longer routes, and effectively excludes a large number of people from non-motor based transportation.
As the Commonwealth and the City propose resolutions and actions to address climate change and mitigate its impacts, you must see that damaging our pedestrian and bike infrastructure is the opposite policy direction that we must go. We should lean into a divestment from fossil fuels, not propose changes that will make it harder for people to travel around the City without a car.
