Bank street is a major connector to the downtown bike network. It is a route I currently ride with my two young children between the Franklin Street bike lanes and the Franklin Street path under the railroad tracks to get to Shockoe Bottom. This is an important public space that should be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists to access throughout the day. The current barriers also make it difficult for cyclists to get through the area. The barriers should be modified to facilitate cyclist access through the area. Any changes to the design of Bank Street should include improvements for pedestrian and cyclist safety.
