Changes in CPT codes

I am writing to voice my frustration with the upcoming changes in CPT codes for ABA (H2033) services. The clients that my team and I service (as a BCBA and RBTs) are Medicaid recipients and the majority of them live well below the poverty line.  The services they are able to receive are already so low in quality (and quantity) that the flexibility of an H2033 code was like a luxury - the team was able to provide a high-quality service with additional supports as needed (Behavior team attending ISP meetings to ensure consistency, thoughtful individualized materials being created for the client's learning and development, hands on training that benefits staff, client, and stakeholders). With the changes in CPT codes, the agencies in the areas will be more concerned with generating billable hours that things like service collaboration, individualized materials, and program research will fall on the BCBA alone and will likely be overlooked. RBTs who work on an hourly/billable scale will be hard-pressed to make ends meet and eventually leave the field - leaving huge gaps in service for our clients.

This change in CPT codes only serves to benefit the Insurance companies/Medicaid/MCOs and further line their pockets.
