In accordance with Section 4 VAC 25-130-773.13 of the Virginia Coal Surface Mining Reclamation Regulations, and Section 45.1-239(B) of the Code of Virginia, the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy, Division of Mined Land Reclamation, will hold an informal conference to receive comments regarding the proposed permit application for Meadow Branch Coal LLC. The proposed permit area is located approximately 3.5 miles southwest of Appalachia, near Exeter Virginia, off State Rt. 68, in the watershed of Laurel Fork of Pigeon Creek, in Wise County. Persons wishing to review the application materials may do so by visiting the Division’s Big Stone Gap office during business hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the Customer Assistance Center, phone (276)523-8233.
The informal conference will be a fact finding proceeding and will be held on Friday, July 30, 2004 at the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy’s office building in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, commencing at 1:00 P.M in room 219. Any person having an interest which is or may be adversely affected by the decision on the application, may present oral or written comments during this conference. Comments should be specific as to how the proposed operation may adversely affect the person.
The Division will render its decision on the application within 60 days of the close of the informal conference.
