Virginia Electric and Power Company d/b/a Dominion Energy has provided the Department of Environmental Quality a notice of intent to submit the necessary documentation for a Permit by Rule for a small renewable energy project (solar) in Chesapeake, pursuant to Virginia Regulation 9VAC15-60. This notice is for a proposed 70-megawatt (MW) ac solar project named the Bedford Solar Center (Project). Dominion Energy is proposing to build the solar facility in the City of Chesapeake north of Whittamore Road and west of Carter Road. The Project will be developed on approximately 566 acres of agricultural land comprised of five parcels and utilize approximately 250,000 traditional photovoltaic (PV) solar panels mounted on a single-axis tracker to produce electricity.
