| Purpose of the meeting Virginia Supplemental Early Language and Literacy Resources for Deafness/Hard of Hearing (VA SELLR-DHH) Project Advisory Subcommittee will meet on February 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., in the Auditorium (Room 103) of the Richmond Police Training Academy, 1202 West Graham Road, Richmond, Virginia 23220. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an overview of the requirements of new Virginia legislation regarding children who are deaf and hard of hearing as it pertains to the newly established advisory committee (§ 22.1-217.04). The advisory committee shall solicit “input from members on the selection of language developmental milestones for inclusion in a resource for use by parents of a child from birth to age five who is identified as deaf or hard of hearing to monitor and track the child's expressive and receptive language acquisition and developmental stages toward English literacy.” § 22.1-217.04 B 1. Public comment will be accepted in person at the meeting. Public comments will be limited to three minutes per person. However, written public comment is also accepted. Written public comment must be received by 5 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2023. Please submit any written comments to spedinstruction@doe.virginia.gov. All written public comment will be shared with the VA SELLR-DHH Project Advisory Committee Members following in-person public comment. | |
