Electronic Access Notice is hereby given that on August 5, 2021, at 10:00 AM, Eastern time, Virginia Housing will conduct a virtual hearing to receive comments from the general public on the VMRP, including its assessment of homeowner needs, a draft HAF Plan to be submitted to Treasury and the draft eligibility criteria for the VMRP. In addition, persons will have an opportunity to make brief statements on the VMRP. Written comments may also be submitted prior to or during the virtual hearing to: comments@virginiamortgagerelief.com or to the Legal Division, Virginia Housing, 601 South Belvidere Street, Richmond, Virginia 23220. Written comments will be accepted through 5:00 PM Eastern time on August 6, 2021. Purpose of the meeting
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING HOMEOWNER ASSISTANCE FUND Pursuant to the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, the Commonwealth of Virginia has been awarded approximately $258 million of homeowner assistance funds (HAF) from the U.S. Department of the Treasury (Treasury). The HAF was established to mitigate financial hardships associated with the coronavirus pandemic by providing funds for the purpose of preventing homeowner mortgage delinquencies, defaults, foreclosures, loss of utilities or home energy services, and displacements of homeowners experiencing financial hardship after January 21, 2020, through qualified expenses related to mortgages and housing. Virginia Housing Development Authority (“Virginia Housing”) will administer the HAF funds in Virginia through a Virginia Mortgage Relief Program (VMRP).
