Purpose of the meeting
The Public Engagement Committee of the Air Pollution Control Board will hold a public comment meeting on December 2, 2020, beginning at 6 p.m. and concluding when all those wishing to comment have had the opportunity to comment or 9 p.m., whichever is earlier. The purpose of the meeting is to solicit comments from the public on portions of DEQ’s October 2020 “Environmental Justice Study" as they relate to the work of the Committee. Specifically, the Committee is soliciting comments on the recommendations on pages 8 – 17 and the recommended regulatory changes on pages 21 – 24. The Committee is not soliciting any comments on the conduct of the study, recommended legislative changes, or budgetary proposals. The Committee asks the public to focus its comments on actions the Committee can pursue and recommend to the full Board. The Committee is limiting the time for any person to three (3) minutes and the time for any organization to five (5) minutes. The Committee welcomes the filing of any written materials by the close of the meeting. The public can file any written materials by emailing them to cindy.berndt@deq.virginia.gov or by mailing them to SAPCB Public Engagement Committee, c/o Cindy Berndt, Department of Environmental Quality, P.O. Box 1105, Richmond, VA 23218. If you wish to address the Committee during the meeting, you must register by December 1, 2020.
