Purpose of legislation
This legislation reassigns authority for administering the provisions of the Grades, Marks, and Brands Law, which deals with the grading of agricultural commodities, from the Director of the Division of Marketing and Development to the Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services (Commissioner) and from the Division of Marketing and Development to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (Department).
The bill includes an enactment clause that provides that existing regulations of the Director of the Division of Marketing of the Department remain in effect until the Commissioner promulgates regulations pursuant to the authority proposed in this bill.
