| Summary |
The process for emergency custody and temorary dentention orders require medical screening and assessment. Since medical screening and assessment services provided during the emergency custody period can be reimbursed through the Department of Medical Assistance Services(DMAS), the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, in consultation with DMAS, the Virginia Association of Community Services Boards (VACSB), the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association (VHHA), and the Virginia College of Emergency Physicians (VCEP) developed this consensus guidance document on medical screening and assessment to be used by all public and private behavioral healthcare providers and emergency departments statewide. |
