Emergency Extension Request
(3752)
Action:
(6261)
Stage:
On 8/5/2013 the board requested that this
emergency stage be extended until 3/20/2014.
Reason for Extension:
Chapter 3 (House Bill 1106) of the 2012 Acts of the Assembly mandated that the Board of
Medicine promulgate regulations to implement the provisions of the act within 280 days of its
enactment. Emergency regulations were submitted on the Regulatory Townhall on 7/11/12 and became effective on 9/19/12 and expire on 9/19/13. Proposed regulations were submitted on Townhall on 12 13/12 and are awaiting the Governor's approval. It is now impossible for the Board to replace the emergency regulations within the statutory deadline of 12 months. Therefore, the Board of Medicine voted at its meeting on August 2, 2013 to request a six-month extension to ensure that regulations for licensure of behavior analysts and assistant behavior analysts, as mandated by the Code of Virginia, do not expire.
This emergency extension request was approved by the Governor's office on 9/13/2013.
