The new APS regulations provide clarification that will benefit the provision of protective services by local social services.  The regulations should not, however, be used by the Virginia Dept of Social Services to mandate that local agencies provide client or perpetrator specific information for a state data system.  The Virginia Dept of Social Services should focus upon collecting outcome information that will further improve service delivery.
