I fully support this proposal to implement newborn screening for ALD and SMA. One of my dearest lifelong friends was recently diagnosed as a carrier for ALD and was heartbroken to learn that the ALD gene is passed hereditarily meaning she would be putting her future child at risk. This is a LIFESAVING measure that would give families the opportunity to knowledge and be able to access medical care that would keep children alive. Please pass this initiative!
