Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Strongly Oppose - Protect Children

Children are not of the age of moral reasoning until they are close to 26 years of age.  That is why insurance allows parents to carry them on their policies till 25.  There is a reason why children have parents, the schools are not qualified to enter into this area with children.  Science and studies show that the majority of children that are confused over these things, grow out of them and if for some reason they do not then seeing a doctor or a therapist is the avenue to take.  Schools  are supposed to teach reading, writing, math and teach problem solving skills, not life choices, stay out of this lane, not your call or area of expertise.

Children think that eating snacks all day is healthy, we do not let them do it because it is not good for them to fill up on junk.  Children think that it is okay to stay up all night watching TV, we do not let them do it because it is not good for them, they need their rest.  Children want to drive cars way earlier than is legal, we do not let them drive till they have had a learners permit, because it is not safe. Many more examples, but please stop pushing this agenda on little minds.  It is cruel and wrong  to manipulate children.
