Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Confusion about sexual identity takes away a foundation that has been secure since Creation.  "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."  Gen. 1:27

Allowing the minority views to control the majority of people who do not agree with this policy is wrong and will lead to tension and more confusion and misunderstanding.  Every culture from the beginning of time had a moral code--The Norse, Babylon, Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and more.  All believe that we are to care for the poor and not hurt others and treat others as we would want to be treated.  We want to be loving to those who are gender confused.  Loving them is giving them boundaries.  We do not love our children when we let them do whatever they want.  We all know that limits actually give freedom.

In a classroom, we don't allow a child to change his name each day.  That would be chaos for a teacher in her record keeping on their papers, much less the classmates being able to address, and remember, their new name.

The absurdity of this policy is great.  It must not be put into effect.  Wonderful, caring, confident teachers will leave the public schools, so will any families who can afford to.  The public sector will be left with all poor, needy, and very confused people.  How could we consider letting this happen?

Let's encourage parents to help their children find their identity as parents have been doing all throughout history.  Let's remember to pray for teachers, families, and schools.
