I strongly oppose the policies set forth in this guidance document, Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in VA Public Schools. The Acknowledgments section clearly indicates a lack of diversity in viewpoints, and no reasonably-minded parent could ever support the nonsense contained within this draft policy. You have, out of concern for a small group of people, endangered so many more. It is my absolute right as a parent to trust that my children, in their most vulnerable circumstances, such as using a restroom or changing room, would not have their privacy violated by the mere unchallenged assertion of identity from another student. The social dynamic imposed by these policies, as well as the unreasonable limitations placed on teachers who might otherwise be able to use common sense to protect the innocence of children, will create a disastrous educational environment the no parent could ever think of educating their children in. I strongly oppose the pretenses of this document, and strongly oppose these policies and any school who chooses to adopt them.
