I think these model policies are excellent. I graduated high school back in 2015 and I wish more polices like these were placed and implemented. Transgender students deserve to feel heard and safe at school. For some students, school is the only place where they feel safe. Kids can't learn well if they are constantly in fear of being who they are and expressing themselves. I believe if these policies were implemented, kids would feel safer, be more open and honest about their struggles, feel more supported, feel like they can talk to faculty, etc. We go to school not to just learn how to read and write - we go to school to learn about social issues, diversity, how to debate effectively, how to problem solve, etc. It is a place to learn, grow, and be exposed to differences.
