While schools have a duty to protect the bodily privacy and dignity of all students, no child should be forced to share showers, locker rooms, hotel rooms, or other intimate settings with a member of the opposite biological sex.
Children will feel uncomfortable when they encounter a member of the opposite sex – particularly adults – in gendered facilities or when entering a shared hotel room as part of an overnight school activity. Adolescents, can experience hypersensitive and traumatic reactions to these situations.
Schools should not accommodate the gravely harmful view that age 5 or 6 is an appropriate time to be encouraging irreversible “gender transitions”.
The proposed policies of the Virginia Department of Education is immoral, asinine, and infringe the First Amendment rights of parents to raise and care for their children. Virginia has no right what so ever to force these misguided policies on the parents of Virinia.
To the parents of Virginia, some food for thought for the safety of your children: private school and home schooling.
