Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

School Gender Policy

This policy, like so many being proposed these days, is absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!  It is beyond my comprehension how so-called educated leaders of our state and country can even have the gall to present this ludicrous policy!  This would not solve ANY issue, but it would create so many more, and only prove to make life so confusing for the children, but for some reason, you seem to think would be beneficial.  Your thinking is very flawed!  There are ONLY 2 GENDERS, male and female, and they were created by God, whether you believe in Him or not!  Human beings need to understand that they have no authority OR ability to change or create new genders. I say put yourself in the place of ANY ONE OF THESE CHILDREN and imagine how you would react and how you would handle the total confusion you are proposing to put them through.  Would you want to be faced with this?? As a citizen and a tax payer, I EXPECT SO MUCH MORE from our elected officials, so please use some common sense and BURN THIS PROPOSAL!!!!! The fact that the gender disphoria affects such a minor percentage of our population, how is it that you cannot focus on HELPING these children by proposing mental health help for them, and let the parents help their children through these trying times rather than shutting them out. I pray for those of  you in office to find some COMMON SENSE!!!
