Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

I strongly oppose. Confused children need time to grow up& understand more before adults condone.

This legislation is totally pushed by an anti-family, anti-religious agenda. It's forcing teachers and schools, despite personal beliefs to support a radical, destructive idea that is not based in reality, science or anything reasonable, but is simply a rebellious teenage cry for attention. As a teacher and parent, the children that I have seen attempt to be gay, are only seeking the approval of peers and to be rebellious to the normal order of things. The children I've known who have pretended they were gay, have been redirected by parents to reality and returned to affirming the sex they are at birth, and in reality, always should be. Gay life is caused by abuse, not heredity, and should not have to be accommodated by teachers. In my younger days, children sought attention by growing long hair, the way to get attention now is by pretending to be gay or transgender. It is not a good life, gays die younger than the normal population, and the only transgender person I know was in prison, long term. Do not make schools support this aberrant behavior. They have plenty to do teaching and do not need this aggravation and all the problems it will cause.
