Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

This Policy Poses great Security and Safety Concerns for ALL.

This new transgender language violates the DOE Federal and State enrollment, Security and Safety policy.  And will violate public school registration of students.

Every Public School Principal must be accountable for every student present in the school and on the school grounds.  The Public school administrators are responsible for ALL proper state documentation (birth certificate), medical records (vacinations/special needs) and legitimate copies are filed.   IF these documents are NOT provided the students can not attend school.   If students do attend and do not comply with state required documents than the school is in violation.

These State regulations are the foundation to providing "accountability" and "security" for ALL students and staff within each school.  If parents are enrolling their children in school they have Federal, State and Medical documents that provide verification for that student. That verification is how each student is accounted for.

It is for accountability and security at PUBLIC Schools.  If a student is enrolled, proper documentation will allow the school principal to clearly and account for that student at All times.  It is NOT up to the parents OR the students to identify or change their gender when enrolling in school. These are Federal and State regulations that allow students to be enrolled in public schools.  No papers/documents that legally reflect identity than Principal and administration can NOT enroll that student.   this is NOT a parent or student decision when attending PUBLIC school.   every student must attend PUBLIC school with legal documents.
