22VAC-185-190    Program Director Qualifications

I strongly object to deleating option #5 of the current standards.  These soon to be deleated 6 paragraphs of qualifications allow many excellent directors to fill postions that are extremely tough to fill.  I object to further limiting an already limited pool of applicants.  Has Virginia collected data to ascertain how many current Program Directors are able to work in these positions by meeting one of the qualifications in option #5?  If so, I would love to see that data!  I support the VCCA solution outlined below.

Associates Degree in any field, child related courses preferred, not required

BA/BS Degree in any field, child related courses preferred, not required

12 College Credits in child related subject matter

CDA Credential
