We say No to this proposal as acupuncture is a registered profession, and because dry-needling is technically a form of acupuncture, thus it cannot be registered as a seperate therapy.
Dry-needling is the modern name of a type of acupuncture which was given a modern theoretical explanation with western medical terminology. When you take away its new modern name and new theory, it is still 100% traditional acupuncture, which has been practised for thousands years and has enormously benefitted the lives of people all over the world.
To be qualified to practice acupuncture, one needs at least 4 years college education and 300 hours clinical training to gain the legal right to safely practice acupuncture. However, separating dry-needling from acupuncture would grant PTs a legal shortcut to practice acupuncture without the adequate qualification, endangering patients' safety and making them susceptible to life-threatening consequences. Therefore, it would be an ethical disaster if dry-needling was granted as an independent therapy apart from Acupuncture. Furthermore, to classify dry-needling as an independent therapy would not only disregard the contributions of Chinese medicine practitioners over thousands of years, but also plagiarises a traditional Chinese medical practice that has helped millions of people.
For the sake of Virginal people's health and safety, please reject this proposal!
