Disarming lawful individuals with a CHP not only places them at risk, but it creates and reinforces an "entitled" class of people (elected officials and lawmakers) who themselves benefit from armed protection paid for by the very citizens whose rights to self-protection are abrogated and/or denied.
There is no evidence that lawful concealed carriers are a threat. Studies have shown that citizens with a CHP are far less likely to commit *any* crime than those without. Gun-bans are merely a "feel good" tactic which does not benefit society. This is proved by noting that the most violent cities have the strongest gun regulations.
