What is the true intent of this regulation? Is it to promote safety and to prevent violence to others from firearms? If so, then it must be asked, who is committing the violence? Would it be anyone other than someone acting out of anger or with the willful intent of harming others? If that is the case, than will any of those individuals care about any ban of concealed weapons? If they do not have any second thoughts about harming others, will they care about carrying concealed weapons in a banned area? Those that would commit these actions are either bad people by definition or people with self-control issues.
Understanding that only bad people, or people with self-control issues would willfully harm others and have no regard to the ban of concealed weapons, it must be acknowledged that these actions will happen whether this ban is in place or not. When these situations happen, who will take action to either slow down or stop the bad person? Case after case of violence can be documented where violence has occurred in areas such as those proposed in this regulation (San Bernardino, Sandy Hook, Umpqua Community College, the Pulse nightclub, etc.). Law enforcement cannot be everywhere all the time. By creating these banned zones, you are informing the bad people that they will be able to act without being challenged. If planned properly, they will be able to carry out their plans when security is at its lowest levels thereby inflicting a higher level of casualties.
Allowing law abiding citizens to carry concealed will not guarantee that someone will be there to fight back, but it will add a level of doubt to the attacker. They will not be AS WILLING to carry out the attack. With luck, there WILL be someone to fight back. There is documentation over and over again of an armed private citizen stopping bad people. The proposed ban will remove those individuals who are willing to defend themselves and others and give the advantage to the bad people.
Defending this regulation by saying something has to be done about the gun violence is not a logical argument. We have the laws on the books to defend innocent people and allowing law abiding citizens to carry. FULLY enforce the laws on the books now, do not plea bargain on felony gun charges, make a substantial minimal sentence for prison time.
This is a bad regulation, period. This is a regulation based on spin doctors and not on reason or logic. This is a regulation that goes against the human nature to defend oneself from violence.
