Commenter: Roger Gossett, Retired Military , NRA Instructor,

I strongly oppose the restrictions on carrying concealed handguns.

I am licensed to carry a Concealed Handgun (CHP), and believe that announcing to anyone intent on doing bodily harm in a state building, whether terrorist or mentally unbalanced individual, that there would be little opposition to their intentions would be a deadly mistake. In my fifteen years as an NRA instructor, I have observed that the great majority of Private Security Guards and a number of sworn policemen are not competent with a handgun, while a very high percentage of CHP holders can be depended on to show a modicum of competency.
