I oppose the efforts of the Governor to permanently ban law-abiding citizens from exercising their legally protected right to carry firerms. The Governor wishes to ignore the expressed desire of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia, lawfully expressed through their elected represenstatives. HB 1096 was passed by a majority in the House and the Senate to remove the current emergency restriction banning guns in state agency buildings. The Genearl Assembly has made known the wishes of the citizens and the Commonwealth, yet the Governor has vetoed the bill out of political motivation, as there exists no documented threat that justifies the emergency ban. The Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia does not empower the Governor to override the expressed desire of the people and the General Assembly. I feel the actions by the Governor are politically motivated, and will do permamnet harm to the Commonewalth of Virginia, by making state agency buildings more appealing to those wishing to do harm. I oppose the Governors effort to turn state agency buildings into gun free zones.
