As a mental health professional within Emergency Services, I believe that the new regulations for Crisis Intervention are a huge disservice to the individuals that we serve. It would essentially result in the elimination of a least restrictive alternative to hospitalization. Without this valuable service, we will notice to a higher rate of ECOs and hospitalization, which has already occurred within the mental health system. A new authorization and assessment every 7 days would be counterproductive and takes the focus off of the actual crisis and the wellbeing of the individual being served. Services are already very limited for individuals in our community, especially the Danville area, so having these new regulations will further starve an already struggling system. Please reconsider these regulations in the best interest of mental health clinicians, and most importantly, those in mental health recovery.
