The safety standards adopted by the Commonwealth to regulate abortion facilities were a necessary stop-gap to preclude Kermit Gosnell type scenarios. It would be laughable if not so digusting that my 15 year old daughter can't take tylenol in school, but the Governor would give an abortionist the ability to do invasive procedures on a similar aged young woman without having surgical center level oversight and emergency protocol. When we added the medical services division to our local Pregnancy Care Center we had so many parameters and criteria to meet, it was mind-boggling. And not for invasive procedures mind you, but sonograms! We have to have doctoral oversight and licensed nurses. To strip away these safety measures from abortion clinics would be reckless and dangerous to some of the most vulnerable people among us: young pregnant women. We send trained people out to war to protect the vulnerable. The same should apply here.
