The current law ALREADY REQUIRES MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND OVERSIGHT for state approved sanctioning bodies. It does NOTHING to enhance fighter safety and is a "shady" attempt to try to establish a monopoly for one sanctioning body. In addition, its passage would bring economic hardship to dozens of small promotions throughout the state and would hurt local economies when VA fighters have to go outside of the state to TN, NC and KY in order to fight. Our local economies do NOT need this. Just as the sport of amateur MMA does NOT need a to see the sanctioning business monopolized. This is why I strongly oppose HB 1228.
