Board of Health,
Id like to offer a suggestion for the regulation of abortion centers. Since apparently some women prefer to be treated like cows, or their husbands/boyfriends prefer to treat them like cows, just let the Department of Agriculture and Veterinary Board regulate them and let veterinarians perform abortions. Women could then be dropped off at any veterinarians office for their abortions or the veterinarian could just come out, on a house call, and perform the abortion in a barn. Well, of course, I am being humorous, yet, even so, it disgusts me that apparently there is so, as it seems to me, little regard for the safety and dignity of women in the abortion centers, in my opinion. I think that ANY outpatient procedure center - for any kind of surgery or medical procedure - needs to be held to the highest medical standards. If the owners are not willing to do that then it seems to me that they need to go out of business. Also, pregnancy is NOT a disease process. These days, I wonder if I will eventually be seeing bill boards saying "PREGNANCY! You never know where this horrible disease will strike next! Give now to help those poor, unfortunate victims of pregnancy!" Seriously, we DO know what causes babies and there ARE several means of preventing a woman from becoming pregnant if she or her significant other does not want a pregnancy to start. Obviously you will note that I have problems with the idea of abortions yet, even so, if they are going to be done, the health of the woman needs to be protected and the abortion centers need to be using the highest medical standards to protect their patients. I mentioned barns and cows above, however, I would imagine that most owners of cows and the veterinarians who provide medical care for them would likely provide very good care for the cows due to their economic importance to the owners. I guess that some people dont regard women as being of economic importance but, as human beings, they are worthy of being treated much better than cows. Respect women, protect them, require safe, clean, medically superior abortion clinics. E. Marshall Buckles
