The costly and medically unnecessary regulations now in place will force women’s health centers to close, restricting access to the comprehensive health care they provide, which include services like cancer screenings and birth control, as well as abortion. I urge the Commissioner and Board of Health to rewrite these politicized restrictions so that they rely on evidence-based medicine. Regulatory action should be based on sound principles of public health and sound scientific data.
The purpose of these regulations is to limit a woman's choices for abortion--not to protect her health. Annoying, and sometimes devastating.
