The proposed definition of 'valid' in the voter photo ID regulation reads like the language in the most recent constitutional amendments on the Virginia ballot. Any photo ID that the Department of Elections has chosen to accept was legitimate when it was generated and it should remain legitimate until the individual's appearance becomes so altered that an Election Officer questions it at the polls. Searching out an expiration date when many acceptable IDs do not include a date is a time-waster when voters are waiting. Retain the June version of the regulation and get on with the business of explaining the unnecessary photo ID requirement to voters and potential voters throughout the Commonwealth.
