Unless the vet school obtains the pet owner's written informed consent, if anything goes wrong
 

the vet and the school should be subject to a rebuttable presumption of malpractice.

Should there be a minimal award of, say, $10,000? Probably.

Too often vet schools, particularly those in this state, simply do as suits their needs without so much as a "by your leave" to the pet's custodian.
